“A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger”
Proverbs 15:1
I have been focusing on this verse this month. One of the first indicators of my emotional well being is the words that come out of my mouth, which also reveals the status of my heart. Sometimes, when things get stressful and I feel out of control, my words become critical, harsh, and lacking in love. The past few months have been full of situations that have left me stressed and feeling out of control, but thankfully the Lord is always in control. By focusing on His words and His love I have noticed that my heart has began to change and thus my words have become more compassionate and grace filled. My relationship with those around me has also improved as my words and heart have changed. In the coming months, my family and I are moving into our new home (which God blessed us to be able to purchase) and I know that there will be more stressful situations and moments where I feel out of control. However, I am confident that by clinging to Jesus and rereading this verse, my heart and my words will be transformed, and they will be full of love rather than harshness.
