What Does Abundant Life Look Like?



I was asked this question a few weeks back and I will be completely honest a few things came to mind, things of the world that are “promised” to bring happiness and fulfillment like life without stress, abundant finances, job security, knowing all the things and winning all the games and so on. And other things came to mind maybe more spiritual like having peace, joy, and thankfulness in every season of life no matter the circumstances, which I think are still good things. But I thought back to a conversation I had with an athlete that stuck with me. We were discussing where we had seen God’s faithfulness in our own lives and what we were thankful for and she proceeded to share that she is so thankful to KNOW Jesus. What a simple and profound truth that is still ministering to my heart weeks later. How often do we thank Jesus for his grace and faithfulness in plucking us from our lives of sin and darkness and giving us a new life of abundance in following him and knowing him intimately? When pondering this question more I came to the realization that an abundant life simply looks like knowing Jesus as Lord because for the Christian the best is always yet to come! We can rest and trust that no matter what life brings, knowing Jesus and following Him is enough and He will sustain us in each season. Following Jesus and knowing him promises a life of abundance no matter the circumstance.

“The thief comes to steal kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” John 10:10

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
